Windows Phone 7 and Government Apps

Joel Reyes, our team’s Windows Phone 7 Champ, just put up a blog post talking about Government Apps on Windows Phone 7.  Check it out.

Part of my team’s job this year is to get out and encourage developers to build citizen facing applications that get submitted to the Windows Phone Marketplace.  Two common questions are:

WHAT KIND OF PUBLIC SECTOR APPS CAN BE BUILT FOR V1?

For v1, applications must be citizen facing and publicly accessible via marketplace. Good examples of this are:

· HeyGov! – allows citizens to be active part of city quality by reporting issues directly.

· Congress – application with information about all congress representatives.

· Wheel – application provides citizens with public transportation data feed.

Other examples include things like military rank reference, per diem calculator, state news, etc.

ARE YOU INTERESTED IN MY GOVERNMENT OR EDUCATION RELATED APP?

Yes.  Please let us know through the Public Sector Developer Weblog contact form.
